Reflections on “What Matters”

Tuesday, June 2, 2026

6:00 AM PT / 9:00 AM ET / 2:00 PM London

Speaker: Jennifer Rodgers, MBE | Director of Nursing and Family Support, Childrens Hospices Across Scotland | Convening Team, What Matters To You

Join us on What Matters to You Day for this webinar reflecting on the origins of the “What Matters to You?” movement in Scotland and exploring how awareness inspires ideas that lead to real action transforming experiences and outcomes in health and care.

Drawing from 14 years of asking “What Matters to You?”, participants will hear practical ways to shift the balance toward true partnership, shared decision-making, and meaningful collaboration with people and families.

The programme will cover how to generate a shared purpose for person-centred care, strengthen co-production, and embed lived-experience stories at every level of an organization. Participants will examine person-centred approaches to visiting and care planning, and how to connect strategic ambition to day-to-day behaviors. Using a quality improvement lens, the session focuses on asking, listening, and doing what matters, building culture through continuous improvement so care consistently aligns with people’s goals, values, and dreams.

Learning Objectives:

-Describe the origins and evolution of the “What Matters to You?” movement and its impact on person-centred care and health outcomes.

-Identify practical strategies to strengthen partnership, shared decision-making, and co-production with people and families across health and care settings.

-Examine approaches for embedding lived-experience stories, person-centred practices, and continuous improvement principles into organizational culture and daily care delivery.
