CAVS Certification is intended for healthcare professionals or other individuals with an interest in volunteer leadership. The purpose of CAVS certification is to promote healthcare volunteer services management through the certification of qualified individuals by:
- Recognizing those who meet the CAVS eligibility requirements and pass the examination.
- Encouraging continued personal and professional growth in healthcare volunteer services management.
- Providing a global standard of knowledge for certification, helping employers, the public, and health professionals assess healthcare volunteer services managers.
The CAVS designation is achieved by completing and passing the online CAVS examination.
The January 2026 CAVS exam is offered throughout the month of January and will be scheduled per the candidate's availability. Testing dates will be scheduled through our testing partner Meazure Learning starting in December 2025 and exam dates must be scheduled by December 24, 2025. Additional testing information will be sent from The Credentialing Center after exam registration has been approved.
The application process for the CAVS exam consists of 2 parts:
Step 1: Please add your resume or CV to your profile on The Beryl Institute site, to do this, click "Edit Profile" and then scroll all the way to the bottom to "Add Resume". Once you upload your resume, you will NOT see it on your profile but it will be in your files on the backend of the site and attached to your application. You do not need to upload it more than one time.
Step 2: Once your resume is uploaded, candidates will register through this event and submit the $325 for the exam fee (which contains a $100 non-refundable application fee). If applicants wish to have their organization submit payment for the exam, choosing the "Bill Me" option will allow an invoice to be generated that can be submitted for payment. You will receive a "Order Confirmation" once you have successfully submitted your application. This is NOT your invoice if you are choosing the "Bill Me" option, please print the invoice from your portal to ensure the proper billing information is listed.
BEFORE APPLYING: Please ensure that the information submitted on your application is correct and that your First and Last Name match your legal government identification that will be used to access your exam on your scheduled date.
The application deadline for the January 2026 CAVS exam is November 21, 2025.
